Agnieszka Radwanska is favourite to lift the Brussels Open trophy this week, with neither of the two women who have beaten her this season in contention. Marion Bartoli and Dominika Cibulkova will also have their eyes on the prize, however.
The major absentee - World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka - has outclassed the No. 3 on six occasions this season, and twice in the semi-finals of other recent clay tournaments. The Pole fell to the World No. 1 6-1, 6-3 in Stuttgart, followed more recently by a 6-2, 6-4 defeat in Madrid.
Apart from Azarenka, Radwanska experienced her first defeat of the season to Petra Cetkovska last week. No. 1 seed battled back from a set down, but succumbed 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 on Rome's clay.
The 23 year-old has won two titles this season, both on hard courts. A victory over Julia Goerges 7-5, 6-4 in Dubai saw a relatively easy route to the title, while Miami saw the right-hander overcome Venus Williams, Marion Bartoli (6-4, 6-2) and Maria Sharapova (7-5, 6-4).
